We are extremely saddened and deeply shocked to announce that Alistair Bailie from ‘Sanctuary Cues’, tragically passed away on Monday 23rd April. Aggie, as he was known to many, had a heart of gold and was a true gentleman of the cue sports world. He has been the cue specialist and stall holder at all our BAPTO and Golden 8 Ball events for many years, and was much loved by the players. To us, he was part of the pool family, a friend, a fellow stall holder, part of the Golden 8 Ball & BAPTO team, an expert cue craftsman and a skilled player. He was a great character on the pool circuit and knew so many players – he always had a wealth of stories to share! We still can’t believe that he has been taken from us so cruelly. The Golden 8 Ball and BAPTO events will never be the same without him. We are absolutely gutted – he will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with his partner Jenny, his family and all those that knew him. The pool industry is a lot poorer without Aggie.
As a mark of respect, we plan to have a memorial at this year’s Golden 8 Ball, positioned in the corner bar where Aggie’s stall would usually be. There won’t be a full cue refurbishment service available, although we will try and find someone to offer a basic re-tipping service.
We have also decided to delay the launch of BAPTO 2018, until Monday 14th May.
Adam Short, has started a Just Giving page, to help raise funds towards Aggie’s funeral costs – this money will be given to Jenny and family. We fully support this and ask anyone that knew him if they would kindly donate. Any amount is greatly appreciated.
